How do I get started with TrustyBooker?
Follow these simple steps:
  1. Sign up using your email (no password needed - we'll send you a magic link)
  2. Add your first card - Enter card details like issuer name, last 4 digits, credit limit, and balance
  3. Set your budget - Tell us how much you can pay monthly across all cards
  4. Chat with Trusty AI - Ask questions about your credit strategy
  5. Take the quiz - Test your credit knowledge and learn best practices
What information do I need to add a card?
You'll need:
  • Card issuer - Bank name (for example, Chase, Amex, Capital One)
  • Last 4 digits - For identification (we never ask for full card numbers!)
  • Credit limit - Your total available credit on this card
  • Current balance - How much you owe right now
  • APR (Annual Percentage Rate) - The yearly % charged on unpaid balances
  • Minimum payment - The smallest amount you must pay each month
  • Statement date - When your billing month ends (this is what gets reported to credit bureaus)
  • Due date - The last day to pay without a late fee

💳 Card Management

How do I add or edit cards?
Adding: Go to Dashboard -> Click "Add Card" -> Fill in the form -> Click "Add Card".

Editing: Click any card to open it -> Update the fields you want (balance, limit, etc.) -> Click "Save Changes" button.

💡 Note: You can edit cards anytime to update balances, limits, or other details without deleting and re-adding.
What is credit utilization?
Credit utilization is how much of your available credit you're using, shown as a percentage. For example, if you have a $1,000 credit limit and owe $300, your utilization is 30%.

Why it matters: Keeping this number under 9% is ideal, or under 30% is good. Lower is better for your credit score! TrustyBooker calculates this for you and shows you exactly how much you can spend safely.
When should I delete a card vs edit it?
Edit your card when you want to update: balance, credit limit, interest rate, payment dates, or any other details.

Delete a card only when you've closed the account permanently and want to remove it from TrustyBooker completely.

Most of the time, you'll just edit cards to keep them up to date!
Can I import cards in bulk?
Yes! Go to Cards page -> Click "Import CSV" -> Upload a CSV (spreadsheet) file with columns: issuer, last4, limit, balance, statementDateISO, dueDateISO.

🏦 Automatic Bank Syncing (Optional)

What is automatic bank syncing?
Automatic bank syncing is an optional feature that connects your bank accounts directly to TrustyBooker, so your transactions and balances update automatically - no manual entry needed!

How it works: You connect your bank account once -> Transactions sync daily -> Your card balances stay up-to-date automatically

💡 Important: This is 100% optional! You can still add and manage cards manually if you prefer. Both methods work perfectly.
How do I connect my bank account?
  1. Go to your Dashboard or Cards page
  2. Click "Link Bank Account" button
  3. Search for your bank (for example, Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo)
  4. Log in with your bank username and password (this is done securely)
  5. Select which accounts to sync
  6. Click "Connect"
That's it! Your transactions will start syncing automatically.
Is it safe to connect my bank account?
Yes! We use industry-standard security trusted by thousands of apps:
  • Never see your credentials - You log in directly with your bank, not through us
  • Read-only access - We can only VIEW your transactions, never move money or make changes
  • Encrypted connections - All data is protected during transfer
  • Secure storage - Your connection tokens are encrypted in our database
  • Trusted provider - We use the same system as Venmo, Robinhood, and other major apps
💡 You're in control: Disconnect anytime from your Settings page.
What information gets synced?
When you connect your bank, we sync:
  • Account details - Account name, type (checking, credit card, etc.)
  • Current balance - Updated daily
  • Recent transactions - Purchases, payments, refunds from the last 90 days
  • Credit card info - For credit cards: limit, current balance, minimum payment
We do NOT sync: Your full account numbers, routing numbers, or any info that could be used to access your account.
How often do transactions sync?
Automatically, every 24 hours - We check for new transactions daily so your data stays fresh.

Manual sync: Want to update right now? Click the "Sync Now" button on your Dashboard or Cards page.

New transactions: Usually appear within minutes of being posted by your bank.
Do I have to use automatic syncing?
No! Automatic syncing is completely optional. You can:
  • Use manual entry only - Add cards and update balances yourself (works great!)
  • Use automatic syncing only - Connect your bank and let everything update automatically
  • Mix both - Sync some cards automatically, manage others manually
Choose whichever method you prefer! Both methods provide access to the same features, calculators, and AI educational content.
What if my bank isn't supported?
Most major banks are supported (Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, Capital One, Discover, Amex, and 10,000+ others).

If your bank isn't listed, just add your cards manually instead - you'll still get all the same features!

💡 Note: Search for your bank by name in the connection screen. If it doesn't appear, contact support@trustybooker.com to check availability.
How do I disconnect my bank account?
Go to Settings -> Scroll to "Connected Banks" section -> Click "Disconnect" next to the bank you want to remove.

What happens:
  • We stop syncing new transactions
  • Your existing data stays in TrustyBooker (we don't delete anything)
  • You can reconnect anytime if you change your mind
What if syncing stops working?
If your bank connection breaks (this can happen if you change your password), you'll see an alert on your Dashboard.

To fix it:
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Find the bank with the warning
  3. Click "Reconnect"
  4. Log in again with your current credentials
Your connection will resume automatically!
Can I link multiple banks?
Yes! Link as many banks as you want. Each connection is independent, so you can:
  • Connect multiple banks (Chase + Bank of America + Discover)
  • Sync all your credit cards from different banks
  • Manage everything in one dashboard
There's no limit to how many banks you can connect.

  • Payment Plan Generator - Distributes your budget across cards strategically
When should I pay my cards?
The best time to pay is 2-3 days before your billing month ends (your statement date). This way, credit bureaus see a lower balance when they check, which helps your score.

Use the Payment Timing Calculator (Sky tier+) to get exact dates for each card.

🤖 Trusty AI Bot

How do I use the AI coach?
Click the 🤖 floating button (bottom right) or go to /trusty page. Type your question to access educational information. Example questions:
  • "How much can I spend this month?"
  • "When should I pay my Chase card?"
  • "What's the fastest way to pay off my debt?"
  • "How do I improve my credit score?"
Is my data safe with Trusty AI?
Yes! Trusty has built-in security:
  • Privacy Protection - Blocks sensitive info like Social Security numbers, full card numbers, and CVV codes
  • AI Safety Guards - Prevents anyone from tricking the AI
  • Spam Protection - Prevents abuse (10 requests per minute, plan-based daily limits)
We never share your conversations or personal data.

💰 Budget & Spending Tracker

How do I track my daily spending?
Go to /spending -> Click "Add Spending" -> Select the card, enter amount, date, and optional category -> Click "Add".

Your spending is linked to specific cards and counts toward your monthly budget.
How does the budget tracker work?
Set your monthly budget on the Dashboard -> Track spending throughout the month -> See real-time budget health:
  • Healthy (Green) - Under 70% of budget used
  • Tight (Yellow) - 70-100% of budget used
  • Over Budget (Red) - Exceeded budget

How do I upgrade or downgrade?
Go to /billing -> Click "Change Plan" -> Select new tier -> Confirm.
Upgrades are immediate. Downgrades take effect at next billing cycle.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes! Cancel anytime from /billing. You'll keep access until the end of your current billing period. No hidden fees or penalties.
Do you offer refunds?
We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on your first payment. If you're not satisfied, contact us at support@trustybooker.com within 7 days of signup for a full refund.

How is my data protected?
  • Magic Link Auth - No passwords to leak or forget

❓ Common Issues

I didn't receive my magic link email
Check:
  1. Spam/junk folder
  2. Email address is correct (typos happen!)
  3. Wait 2-3 minutes (emails can be delayed)
If SMTP isn't configured (development mode), a dev link will appear on screen instead.
My sign-in time ran out - what happened?
For security, you are automatically signed out after 24 hours of inactivity. Simply sign in again with your email to continue.
I hit my AI chat limit - how do I get more?
AI chat limits reset monthly (first of each month, midnight UTC). To get more chats immediately, upgrade your plan at /pricing.

Feature says "Upgrade Required" - why?
Some features are tier-restricted:
